Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC), activated Aug. 7, 2009, is a Major Command with headquarters at Barksdale AFB, LA, in the Shreveport-Bossier City community. AFGSC is responsible to Organize, Train and Equip the nation’s three Intercontinental Ballistic Missile wings operating Minuteman III missiles, the Air Force’s entire bomber force (including B-52 Stratofortress, B-1 Lancer and B-2 Stealth Bomber wings), the Long Range Strike Bomber program, Ground Based Strategic Deterrent program and operations and maintenance support to organizations within the nuclear enterprise.
