Summit Technical Solutions is an industry expert on the front line of strategic deterrence. STS currently provides direct Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Systems Engineering Support to the Headquarters AFGSC, and 20th Air Force/Task Force-214.

United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) is the Unified Combatant Command charged with space & information operations, missile defense, global command and control, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, global strike and strategic deterrence, and combating weapons of mass destruction. Established in 1992 as successor to Strategic Air Command, USSTRATCOM headquartered at Offutt AFB, NE employing more than 2,700 people, representing all four services, DoD civilians and contractors.

 

USSTRATCOM provides the President of the United States (POTUS) and Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) a unified resource for identifying specific, worldwide threats and the means to immediately respond via day-to-day Operational Control of 6 supporting Task Forces:

 

Task Force 124 – Airborne Communications:

Operating the Navy’s E-6B Mercury airborne command post enabling POTUS and SECDEF to communicate with ICBM, U.S. Navy ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs) and long-range strategic bomber crews. E-6B aircraft are assigned to Strategic Communications Wing One, Tinker AFB, OK.

 

Task Force 134 – COMSUBPAC:

Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMSUBPAC) provides strategic deterrent submarine operations using U.S. Navy ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs) armed with the Trident missile weapon system. Pacific SSBNs are based at Bangor, WA with headquarters at Naval Base Pearl Harbor, HI.

 

Task Force 144 – COMSUBLANT:

Submarine Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet (COMSUBLANT) provides strategic deterrent submarine operations using SSBNs armed with the Trident missile weapon system. Atlantic SSBNs are based at Kings Bay, GA with headquarters at Naval Base Norfolk, VA.

 

Task Force 204 – Strategic Bomber and Reconnaissance Aircraft:

8th Air Force, headquartered at Barksdale Air Force Base, LA is providing POTUS with combat-ready forces capable of deploying air power worldwide operating B-52 Stratofortress bombers (Barksdale AFB, LA and Minot AFB, ND) and B-2 Spirit stealth bombers (Whiteman AFB, MO). Reconnaissance aircraft assigned to 25th AF include the RC-135 Rivet Joint (Offutt AFB, NE) and U-2S Dragon Lady (Beale AFB,CA).

 

Task Force 214 – Land-based Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles:

20th AF has dual responsibilities to AFGSC and USSTRATCOM providing POTUS with responsive, accurate and highly reliable ICBM forces operating the Minuteman III weapon system dispersed in hardened silos across the nation’s north-central tier (F.E. Warren AFB, WY, Malmstrom AFB, MT. and Minot Air AFB, ND).

 

Task Force 294 – Aerial Refueling/Tankers:

18th AF acts as Task Force 294 responsible for generating aerial-refueling tanker forces interfacing between Air Mobility Command and USSTRATCOM. Tankers are assigned to 18th Air Force, Scott AFB, IL.
