11 Jul 2016 – Colorado Springs PRIDEFest
PRIDE 2016 EVENT SPONSORSHIP
On July 10th, Summit Technical Solutions was proud to be a sponsor of the Colorado Springs PRIDEFest 2016 for the second year in a row. PRIDEFest takes place in downtown Colorado Springs, and is an eclectic environment of equality and tolerance. PRIDE represents many values STS holds; Everyone should be treated with respect, trust, and dignity.
Eight volunteers from the Headquarters office, joined by many friends and family, participated in the annual PRIDE Parade on Sunday. The parade is a festive one mile walk where more than 50 local groups, businesses, and LGBTQ organizations come to show their support for PRIDE and the diverse community in Colorado Springs. This years groups included Tobacco Free Colorado, the Queer Initiative and InsideOut Your Services to name a few. Local businesses like Progressive, T. Rowe Price, and local colleges also walked in the parade.
The HQ Volunteers, seen in the slideshow below, enjoyed supporting the event and interacting with the community members who joined the celebration and parade. This years event had many Colorado Springs community members involved. Though Colorado Springs PRIDE is a celebration today, it started as marches and protests when the LGBT community was being discriminated against by the general public. As the community became more socially acceptable, and overcame battles and won more equal rights, it has turned into a celebration to remember how far we’ve come.
STS, as a sponsor, gave away skittles, temporary tattoos, and bright sunglasses to the families and children who came to watch the parade. At the end of the parade line, all members of the community were asked to join the ‘Parade for the People’, encouraging those families to join the festivities that took place at America the Beautiful Park; the end of the parade route.
This second year participating in Colorado Springs PRIDE was a success for Summit Technical Solutions, and all of the volunteers were proud to get involved and support the community in this way.
We look forward to continuing our support in 2017! We are grateful for the ability to participate and support local organizations that do such positive things for others, and who create an environment of tolerance, respect, and dignity for everyone.
