STS Hosts Book Drive in Support of Children’s Literacy Center in Colorado Springs
Summit Technical Solutions is always finding new and interesting ways to give back to our community, as STS believes we have a responsibility to give back to the communities in which we live and work. This August, our Headquarters office in Colorado Springs held a Back-to-School Book Drive, inviting employees to donate gently used or new books and brand-new school supplies. All donations provided were given to the Children’s Literacy Center (CLC) of Colorado Springs in support of their mission.
The CLC is a nonprofit organization that provides free one-on-one literacy tutoring to students reading below grade level. They provide resources and materials to help children succeed through the foundation of literacy. With a 95% success rate, the CLC’s program aims to shrink the gap between success and failure in young students.
“Program participants develop a solid reading foundation essential to success now and in the future. Tutors give each child the confidence they need to succeed. The ability to read and learn guarantees economic security and social stability in our neighborhoods and communities.”
STS donated approximately 250 books and hundreds of school supplies, from notebooks and pencils to markers and reading activity books, to support the mission of the Children’s Literacy Center and their new Colorado Military Academy location. With this donation, the Children’s Literacy Center can use the supplies received to help children build a better future through literacy!
If you would like to also donate or get involved with the Children’s Literacy Center, visit their website at www.childrensliteracycenter.org and find out all you can do to help the future generation thrive.
