02 Apr 2019 – SERTOMA Bowl-A-Thon
STS Volunteers Bowl for a Cause at the SERTOMA Club Bowl-a-Thon
On Saturday, March 30th, STS once again sponsored a team of employees who volunteered for the Colorado Springs SERTOMA Club’s Bowl-a-Thon. Employees volunteered their time to the fundraiser for the fourth year, assisting the SERTOMA Club in their annual fund-raiser benefiting local 501(c)(3) agencies in Colorado Springs, including: Field of Dreams Baseball Camp, the local YMCA, and other worthy organizations. The SERTOMA club, which represents Service to Mankind, organizes many other educational and fundraising events throughout the year.
This year’s event was a little more personal for our STS team, as the late STS Facilities & IT Manager, David N., was a member of the SERTOMA Club, and for the last four years, he had assisted in organizing the bowling event. Dave passed away in February 2019. In honor of Dave’s dedication to his community, and his commitment to the SERTOMA Club, the STS team wore memorial buttons in honor of Dave and to remember his generous spirit.
STS offers employees paid-time-off for volunteer events through our Good Citizen Program (GCP). We encourage all of our employees to nominate sponsorship opportunities that they believe are valuable to the community. The GCP sponsors events such as this year round. We reward employees for their commitments to community, and the programs they support.
In attendance (photographed above, L to R) was Michael N., Miriam N., Social Media Manager, Jason Yingst, Director of Operations, Shannon S., Proposal Manager, and Matt S. The 5 person team enjoyed a few hours of bowling at the volunteer event, and thanks to the STS Sponsorship, Team STS raised the most for a single team at the Bowl-A-Thon! This year’s event raised more than $9,000!
STS is committed to supporting our communities through volunteerism. STS and employees support events around the nation, and are rewarded and supported through our Good Citizen Program. The SERTOMA Bowl-a-thon is one example of the various ways our employees give back to the communities in which they live and work.
