2015- Summit Technical Solutions Takes Hands-on Approach to STEM Education at the 31st Annual Space Symposium

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., April 15, 2015 – Sometimes space is closer than it seems. That was the case on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, for a group of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) students from the Vanguard School in Colorado Springs as Summit Technical Solutions, LLC (STS) hosted a tour of the 31st Annual Space Symposium exhibit floor.IMG_0572

The tour, which included 30 students, took place as part of a partnership formed in Fall 2014 between the Vanguard School and STS to improve STEM education in Colorado Springs. In addition to hands-on activities like this tour and providing judges for science fairs, STS also provides equipment and supply support for classrooms such as a high speed camera, laptop computers, Dremel tools and rocketry supplies.

“This [tour] is an amazing opportunity for our students, many of whom are gifted in science and math, to see how their aptitudes can be applied to the problems of space – both today and for tomorrow.  This event has also opened the door for other kinds of experiential training for our students, which is available locally, and it has helped our teachers to engage with the vibrant space community,” Colin Mullaney, Vanguard School Executive Director, said.

Kelly Terrien, President & CEO, stated, “I am pleased that we have this opportunity [Space Symposium tour] to allow these students to see the exciting possibilities that are available to them in the future.”

The recent as well as continued STEM efforts by Summit Technical Solutions, LLC are being lead by a committee of STS employees in order to inspire and excite the next generation of the STEM workforce.
