Contract Overview

Summit Technical Solutions, LLC (STS) has the opportunity to support the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC). The STS team members assigned to this program will support the AFNWC’s mission of delivering nuclear capabilities to warfighters that are used daily to deter and assure national safety. 

 

Specifically, our team is supporting the directorate that is responsible for providing intelligence support to AFNWC by analyzing the full spectrum of  weapons effects to aid acquisition programs, inform tactics and procedures and assess the current and future nuclear systems to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities. The directorate is also responsible for managing the Air Force’s Nuclear Certification Program and leading the capability development initiatives for all pre-Milestone A/B activities within the center.

Summit Technical Solutions (STS) is seeking a a Mechanical Engineer to be part of our Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) nuclear certification team at the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center.  This position is located at Hill AFB, Utah.

 

Essential Functions:

Provide nuclear subject matter expertise and program management support to Air Force Nuclear Weapons surety programs across all nuclear sustainment and acquisition programs and systems. Provide engineering program management support ensuring nuclear certification standards are met in accordance with applicable directives. Provide engineering expertise by reviewing/analyzing/coordinating on several certification documents to include Certification Requirements Plans as well as Nuclear Surety Evaluations.  Special emphasis on updating policy for emerging technologies. Review and conduct nuclear surety policy tasks and coordinate efforts of technical support personnel, technical writers, and other technicians in the performance developing approved nuclear certification packages for tactical and strategic aircraft systems and strategic missile systems.

Position Necessities:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering

Experience:

Required:

  • Experience with nuclear systems
  • Knowledge of engineering analysis to evaluate nuclear systems
  • Ability to perform engineering analysis on various nuclear components and systems and trace design elements to nuclear certification requirements
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Strong technical communication and writing ability
  • Experience in the operations, maintenance, and sustainment of nuclear threats systems
  • Knowledge of testing nuclear components and evaluating various analyses for systems reliability
  • Ability to evaluate data and apply data to threat systems performance

Test Engineer

Summit Technical Solutions (STS) is currently seeking a Test Engineer to be part of our Aircraft Monitor And Control (AMAC) test teams supporting Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center.  The work location for this position will at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM.

Essential Functions:

When the U.S. Air Force partner acquire a new aircraft or makes significant changes to the hardware or software for their platform testing is required, they expect it to be intuitive and run smoothly. That’s why we need you, an experienced test engineer who knows how to thoroughly test and work with Air Force maintainers, hardware and software developers, to make sure our team provides our clients a thorough and well documented test and test data process.

As a test engineer on our team, you’ll use your experience to work with fellow testers, hardware and software developers, maintenance personnel, System Program Office and engineers. You’ll build a test plan with test cases based on user requirements. You’ll generate data and execute the test cases to see how the software/hardware performs, then document the results and communicate the passing and failing to meet requirements.

Work with us as we develop testing solutions to ensure the current and next generation of weapons work seamlessly on U.S. aircrafts.

Position Necessities:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent experience

Experience:

Required:

  • Experience with aircraft, weapons, and on aircraft testing
  • Ability to perform unsupervised and operate test equipment, troubleshoot test equipment and aircraft faults

Preferred:

  • Experience with flight line operations, logistics in shipping of equipment to and from CONUS and OCONUS locations, as well as test data processing and analysis
  • Knowledge of aircraft electronics and 1553 data bus
  • Top Secret clearance
  • BA or BS degree in Electrical Engineering

Technical Writer

Summit Technical Solutions (STS)is seeking a Technical Writer in support of the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center Capability Development branch supporting intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) air-delivered and nuclear command pillars, including science and technology tasks.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Create, develop, plan, write, and edit operational, instructional, maintenance, or test procedures for paper, multimedia, or Web-based publications. Work on writing assignments.
  • Produce high-quality documentation that supports client expectations and expresses technical content for non-technical clients.
  • Review technical documents for content.

Position Necessities:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Relocation to Albuquerque

Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience & education is required
  • 2+ years of experience with technical writing
  • 5+ years of experience with DoD acquisition and/or test & evaluation process and procedure
  • Familiarity with DoD Directive 5000 series guidelines
  • Experience with Nuclear Command, Control & Communications (NC3), Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS), and/or Capabilities Based Assessment (CBA)
  • Experience with analyzing existing and potential content
  • Experience with producing high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards supporting clients and ensure easy-to-understand descriptions for non-technical clients
