We are proud to be celebrating our twentieth anniversary this September! Building as a small high-tech company in 2001 was no easy task. This veteran-owned business with a single employee, Kelly Terrien, who founded STS on an idea, an honest enjoyment for her work, and a belief that she could do something better. Over the last twenty years, STS has experienced many successes and achievements, and the team has grown to over 400 individuals through various contract awards, but no good story is all success and this is true of the STS’ journey as well. As all business do, STS met challenges over the years, overcoming contract losses, industry challenges and more, but STS never lost sight of our goal – to be innovative, ethical, and provide the best technical support and services to our customers.

Summit Technical Solutions opened its first Office in 2003 in downtown Colorado Springs. This two-office suite was the beginning of big things for STS!
The SBA 8(a) Business Development Program assists small businesses gain easier access to the economic mainstream. To graduate from the 8(a) Business Development Program later, STS had to meet many standards as a small business, and Women Owned Business, including the ability to demonstrate a strong potential for business success.
Kelly Terrien had vision - and understood that time might change - predicting ``STS will grow and change with the implementation of proven technological developments and improvements for our customers in communications, systems engineering, logistics, research and development, equipment maintenance and administrative support tools.``
STS was gaining ground, and global presence through new contract wins, ultimately opening a Branch Office in Ramstein Germany! Additionally offices were located in Missouri and Huntsville, AL.
STS was supporting 8 Sub Contracts by the time we celebrated 5 years of business. STS employed more than 50 individuals who supported everything from administrative and accounting tasks, to operations and maintenance, logistics, Deep Space Network engineering, and maintenance, and more!

The STS headquarters office in Colorado Springs closed its doors for an entire day of volunteering on September 22, 2016. STS teamed up with the organization Cool Science to sponsor a day of STEM education programming. STS’s sponsorship provided a full day of intimidation-free STEM education and hands-on experiments for the students at Will Rogers Elementary School in District 11.
STS continues to grow and opened a new branch office in Arlington, Virginia. This office would allow STS to better support the DC community directly, and continue the important work on new contracts across the United States.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded Summit Technical Solutions a 2016 DHS Small Business Achievement Award! This award recognizes STS for demonstrated exceptional performance while providing records management and maintenance services on the Records Operations Support Services contract!
