The purpose of the David M. Nelson Memorial Fund is to enhance and ensure the dedication and selflessness that Dave bestowed in his community continues.
The love, kindnesses, and value we have given authentically to others is our remaining treasure at the end of life. David Nelson was such an impressionable person, and his kind energy was in fact a treasure to the culture at STS and the Colorado Springs community. Through Dave’s selfless leadership and dedication, he regularly helped organize and fundraise at events like Bowl-A-Thons in order to provide for various programs including the Field of Dreams Baseball Camp, the Aspen Camp for the Deaf, YMCA, SERTOMA H.E.A.R.S 5K, and the Pikes Peak Soap Box Derby. His efforts generated thousands of dollars for these organizations through the years. After his passing in 2019, STS committed to preserving Dave’s passion of providing selfless service to the community in his honor.
As such, Summit Technical Solutions is committed to supporting programs that impact the areas of Dave’s passion; preventing hearing loss in children and fundraising for hearing aids for those who cannot afford them. We believe by supporting the community organizations that promote opportunity, diversity, and civility, we can keep the memory of Dave alive and continue to generate the impact he had on his community. David was the Facilities and IT Manager in Colorado Springs, and a member of the SERTOMA Club SERTOMA, which stands for Service to Mankind, organizes fund-raisers and educational events throughout the year. STS offers employees paid-time-off and sponsorship opportunities through our Good Citizen Program, which is meant to reward employees for their community service efforts, which Dave often took advantage of, and STS employees volunteered:
